Working From Home

More people than ever are working from home in the Richmond area and around the country. If you have never worked from home before, it's normal to feel that it can be a challenge to juggle family, work, and other obligations the same as if you were going to an office on a daily basis. Our real estate agents understand the struggle and compiled these seven strategies you can apply to make working from home a bit easier.

  1. Ease into the New Routine
Don't feel as if you have to become a work-from-home professional overnight. It takes time to adjust to working from home. You may feel isolated, frustrated, and a bit anxious. That's entirely common, and it's alright to ease yourself through the transition gently.
  2. Dress for Success
It may seem silly, and while you can work in your pajamas or sweats, wearing your "work clothes" can help you maintain a professional mindset and protect your morale.

Unfinished Basement Ideas

Homeowners often believe they have to spend big bucks to redo a basement, but in reality, you don't have to spend a lot to make your subterranean space an inviting, cozy space. An unfinished basement is a blank canvas with tons of potential, and most improvements will add to the overall value of your home. Our REALTORS® help property owners with Richmond homes for sale spruce up and stage their basements all the time. Here are a few ideas that can turn your basement into a whole new room to enjoy.

  1. Declutter
Getting rid of stuff you don't need or use is a crucial first step before starting any project. It not only gives you more physical space, but it can also help you feel like you're making a fresh start. Take a look around your basement and decide what needs to stay and what can go.
  2. Get Rid Of Moisture
One reason a lot of people don't think their basement is an ideal place to hang out is because it may be musty and damp. Take care of any issues with water leakage or seepage, waterproof your basement, and invest in a dehumidifier to keep it nice and dry.

Moving Tips

There are plenty of steps you need to take when moving from home to home. With so many moving parts in motions, it's best to make a list of all the details you need to address before you change your address. Our real estate agents have helped many clients move, and we often see clients forget about the following five details that tend to fall off that list.

  1. Personal Records & Mail
If you are moving out of town, make sure you have copies of your dental, medical, veterinary, and other important records with you. This will save you time and energy down the road, and it's easy to start compiling these in the weeks and months before your move. Further, don't forget to pick up your mail and make sure that you have filed your change of address form with the post office. Lastly, make sure that you update your auto/life/homeowner's insurance providers, your bank, and other accounts with your new address.
