Richmond Fan District
As you tour Richmond homes for sale, you must make a trip through one of the city's favorite neighborhoods: The Fan District.  Everyone from college students and professionals to retirees is drawn to this area of Richmond City.  Here you'll find everything from historic Victorian townhouses, mansions, and statues to coffee roasters and shops, Cuban restaurants, and live music venues for dancing.

Before you head out, read on to learn more about the history and features of this quaint Richmond neighborhood.

The Fan District: Homes Enriched in History

The 85-block historic Fan District is called such because of its unique roadway design. West of the downtown Richmond area, the Fan District is lined with streets that spread out towards the city in the shape of a fan. This area, once farmland, gradually started developing through the 1800s. By 1920, the district was complete and featured homes of varying architectural styles including Queen Anne, Colonial Revival, Gothic, Tudor and even the Art Deco and American Arts and Crafts Movement styles.

Today, The Fan is home to retail shops, restaurants, schools and the historic Monument Avenue — all within walking distance from great Richmond homes for sale.
