Fishing in Richmond
They say a bad day of fishing is better than a good day of work. Thankfully, it's impossible to have anything but a fantastic fishing day in The River City. Richmond is the perfect place to break out the reels and enjoy a calm day of catching fish. Our REALTORS® want to lure you out to one of our five favorite fishing spots around Richmond that we know you'll love.

  1. Huguenot Flatwater – 8600 Southampton Rd., Richmond, VA 23235
    Have you ever driven across the Huguenot Bridge to look at Richmond homes for sale and wondered what fish were lurking in the waters beneath? Cast a line and find out! Bass, brim, shad and channel catfish are hanging out below the bridge waiting for you at Huguenot Flatwater. Pick a safe spot on the shore to get comfortable or bring your canoe and enjoy a little peace on the water.  

  2. Ancarrow's Landing – 1200 Brander St., Richmond, VA 23224
    Head north from Colonial Heights homes for sale and you'll run into Ancarrow's Landing right outside of downtown Richmond. Bring your boat along for the ride and wade into the James River to catch plenty of rockfish, largemouth bass, and herring. Parking is free which means you can kick back and let time pass you by.
     
  3. Robious Landing Park – 3800 James River Rd., Midlothian, VA 23113
    Not too far from Powhatan homes for sale is Robious Landing Park, a sprawling landscape with plenty of gorgeous natural views. This is one fishing spot that's ideal for younger children. After you've caught your fill of gar and bluegill, take the kids on a nature walk through the trails to spot dozens of different birds. Let them run around in the playground for a little while then settle down for a homemade lunch at one of the picnic shelters. If you're looking for a fun-filled family afternoon, plan to spend hours enjoying this James River gem.

  4. Three Lakes Park and Nature Center – 400 Sausiluta Dr., Richmond, VA 23227
    Many homebuyers take an interest in Henrico homes for sale because of its convenient location just far enough from the bustling downtown area of Richmond. If you're also interested in a fishing spot that keeps you on this side of the city, head to Three Lakes Park and Nature Center. Their two fishing lakes are ideal for anglers of all ages to enjoy. This is a great spot to visit on a day that could be rained out. When the clouds roll in, you can seek shelter inside the Nature Center that's full of interactive exhibits that give kids a hands-on learning experience, complete with a 50,000-gallon aquarium where children can see how fish live beneath the surface.
     
  5. Pocahontas State Park – 10301 State Park Rd., Chesterfield, VA 23832
    Don't worry — there are tons of great fishing spots outside of Richmond too! Fishing fanatics hoping to find Chesterfield homes for sale will love having Pocahontas State Park right in their backyard. This huge area features three lakes for fishing, more than 60 miles of trails, an Aquatic Center and tons of cabins and campgrounds for overnight stays. Even after the sun sets there's still plenty of fun to be reeled in at the amphitheater that plays hosts to rocking concerts and other family-friendly entertainment. If you want to feel like you're far from the city while staying close to home, Pocahontas State Park offers you the serene solitude you desire.
