GoochlandCares has a goal to make basic human services available to all area residents in need. As part of this mission, the organization operates a food pantry where registered clients shop once a week. In addition to non-perishable items and household goods, GoochlandCares accepts donations of fresh garden produce and backyard eggs. The food pantry opens each weekday at 9 a.m. and you can drop off canned goods in the on-site bins during weekends as you tour Goochland homes for sale.

Early in their marriage, Travis and Karie Whittle struggled to support themselves and their young child but didn't qualify for Social Services. The couple eventually got on their feet, launched a successful business and used some of their profits to found the Chesterfield Food Bank. Today the food bank serves upwards of half a million meals weekly to more than 2,000 people in the community around Chesterfield homes for sale. Volunteers at More Hope Pantry were recently recognized with Hanover County's 2019 Spirit of Team Awards. Mo Hope, as it's affectionately known, accepts donations of canned and dry goods along with fresh produce and new and unused toiletries. Hours are 9 a.m. - noon Monday, Thursday and Saturday and 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday. Donations may also be dropped off at Jackson Hewitt Tax Service and several other businesses near Hanover homes for sale.

In 1996, the Coalition of Powhatan Churches was formed so members could combine their resources to assist area residents with transportation, medical care, and other necessary services.
