Earth Day Richmond

Earth Day is coming up on April 22, and Richmond is gearing up to celebrate with community events, educational exhibits and family-friendly festivals. This annual occasion is the perfect opportunity to reflect on how we can all contribute to a healthier planet—starting right at home. Our real estate agents love participating in local Earth Day activities and are always inspired to pick up new eco-friendly habits to incorporate into everyday living. Whether you're attending an event or looking for ways to be more environmentally conscious in your daily routine, Earth Day is a great time to start making a difference.

Here are a few simple, Earth Day–friendly habits you can adopt in your own home:

  • Switch to LED lighting to reduce energy consumption and lower your utility bills.

  • Start composting your food scraps to reduce landfill waste and create nutrient-rich soil.

  • Use reusable shopping bags instead of plastic or paper ones to help reduce pollution.

  • Upgrade to a programmable thermostat to better manage energy use throughout the year.

  • Plant native plants and pollinator-friendly flowers in your garden to support local ecosystems.

  • Recycle properly by familiarizing yourself with Richmond's recycling guidelines.

  • Choose nontoxic cleaning products that are better for your health and the environment.

  • Opt for energy-efficient appliances when it's time to replace your current ones.

  • Install a rain barrel to collect water for your garden and reduce stormwater runoff.

Now that you're feeling inspired to live a little greener, why not join our agents at one of these upcoming Earth Day events in the Richmond area?
