Haunted Richmond: Ghost Tours and Spooky Attractions | Joyner Fine Properties

The days are getting shorter. The temperature is growing colder. That can only mean one thing: spooky season has arrived! Every year, the Richmond area comes alive with haunted houses, ghost tours, and other activities designed to make the hair on the back of your neck stand tall. If you're in the mood for a good scare, here are a few of the top spots our real estate agents recommend visiting.

Haunted and Scary Attractions in Richmond

Haunts of Richmond

Address: 5 S. 20th Street, Richmond, VA 23223

Haunts of Richmond offers tours of six of the city's most haunted areas. One favorite is their tour of Capitol Hill, where you'll hear fascinating tales of the city's former political leaders, some of whom are rumored to still roam the halls as ghosts. Guests also love their Phantoms of Franklin tour, which sheds a whole new light on local landmarks.

You can book a tour on the Haunts of Richmond website. Most are less than $30 per person and last about 90 minutes. Private tours are also available upon request.

Richmond Ghosts

Address: 1911 E. Main St., Richmond, VA 23223

Another fantastic tour operator is Richmond Ghosts. They focus on haunted tours with a historical twist, sharing stories of haunts from the Civil War Era. The tours give you access to hidden spots that most tourists don't see, and the guides are talented storytellers.

Richmond Ghosts offers several different styles of haunted tours, including pub crawls and family-friendly experiences. The pub crawls take about 2 hours, and prices do not include drinks. Sinister Secrets of Shockhoe Bottom is a popular family tour that takes about one hour.

They operate almost every day of the week, so you should have an easy time booking a tour that fits your schedule.

Amelia Frightfest

Address: 16441 Five Forks Rd., Amelia Court House, VA 23002

A short drive from Richmond, Amelia Frightfest is the place to go for a serious scare. They're open every Friday and Saturday night from September 25-October 31, 2026. Visitors will hike 0.8 miles through the woods. Along the way, they'll encounter spooky scenes, scary characters, and so much more. The haunt designers are excellent at creating suspense and terror.

Amelia Frightfest opens at 6 p.m., with tours beginning as soon as darkness falls. General Admission is $25 per person. Snacks and drinks are available for purchase onsite.

Terror on the Farm at Ashland Berry Farm

Address: 12607 Old Ridge Road, Beaverdam, VA 23015
