Kings Dominion Virginia
Spring is back in Virginia, and that means one thing for thrill-seeking families: Kings Dominion is back too. Our state's biggest amusement park opened for the season on March 30, and its rides and interactive attractions just might be the most exciting things between Richmond and Washington, D.C. If your family is looking at Richmond homes for sale, head north to Doswell for a preview of the adventures you could have all summer long.

What makes Kings Dominion Amusement Park so much fun for Virginia families? Here are some of our favorite things to do while visiting this 400-acre playground:

  • Ride a World-Class Roller Coaster
Ready to get your blood pumping? More than 60 rides are spread out across the park, but the main attraction is a collection of awe-inspiring roller coasters. Try all 12 coasters while you're there, including the aptly named Intimidator 305 (which takes you 305 feet into the air) and the Coney Island-inspired wooden beast The Grizzly. And don't miss the latest addition, Twisted Timbers! This mid-Atlantic first puts a steel track on traditional wooden supports, and it simulates the path of a mysterious 1950 disaster in Hanover Hill Orchard.

Home Buying for Couples

If you and your spouse have started researching Richmond homes for sale, you might have noticed that you have different tastes. Whether it's the size, location, or style of home, there's a good chance that you'll need to compromise on some things. Since your home is one of the single largest investments you'll ever make, it's important to make sure you'll both be happy in the long run.

Getting on the same page before you start home shopping will save you a lot of headaches. The last thing you want is to end up in a stalemate that causes you to miss out on a great buying opportunity, or, even worse, make a purchase that you later end up regretting.

Our REALTORS® have plenty of experience in working with couples to help them find a home that's perfect for both of them. Here are some of their best tips to help you get started.

  • Make Separate "Must Have" Lists
One of the best ways to come to a compromise is to figure out which things you and your spouse agree on. To do this, each of you should make a list of 10 things that are "must-have" features, and 10 "wish list" items. It's best if you make these lists completely separately and compare them only when you're done.

Once you've come up with at least a few items that you have in common, you can use this is a basis to start narrowing down your options. When you come across a home that has at least some of the features you both want, you'll find that compromising on other points gets much easier.

Spring Home Maintenance Guide
Spring might feel like it's a long way off right now, but it has a way of sneaking up on you. And as a homeowner, you know that it's never too soon to start planning ahead for spring maintenance. Our REALTORS® are here to offer some tips for getting your house ready for spring.

Spring Maintenance Checklist

Every house is unique, and depending on your location and climate, your home maintenance checklist for spring may look a little different from this one. Still, for most areas across the U.S., the arrival of spring brings a similar set of challenges for your home. Here's how to get your house ready when spring arrives:

  • Roof: Shingles often wear out, detach or become damaged during winter. If you feel comfortable doing so, climb up on a ladder for a closer look. If not, do a visual inspection from ground level and contact a roofing professional for a more detailed inspection.

Best Richmond Restaurants

At Joyner Fine Properties, our REALTORS® won't rest until you have the chance to move into one of the most appealing Richmond homes for sale. We'll help you find your Richmond dream home so you can enjoy all that this amazing, historic city has to offer.

And one of the main attractions: Delectable gourmet food.

If you're in town to look at homes, you should make time to try out some of the best local specialties. Chesapeake Bay blue crab is the headliner when it comes to Virginia's seafood, but you won't want to miss out on our oysters – or the snacks of freshly roasted peanuts.

But the menu doesn't start and end with seafood. Not by a long shot!

You'll find many different cuisines ready to enjoy when you take a closer look at the dining scene in Richmond. Our team has picked out five of our favorite places for dinner, lunch, or just about any time.

  1. Sub Rosa Bakery - 620 North 25th Street, Richmond
Sub Rosa Bakery is a wood-fired bakery that provides delicious pastries in the midst of historic Church Hill. Organic, regional, and heirloom grains are the secrets to bread with remarkably rich, complex flavors. No matter if you're looking for something delicate like the croissant or seasonal fruit tart or a delicious indulgence like the lamb borek, everything comes from the masonry oven.
