Stroll nearly anywhere around Richmond, and you won't be able to resist snapping a photo of the diverse beauty found within our city. Our REALTORS® take a look at some of Richmond's favorite backdrops perfect spots for your next selfie session!
- Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden – 1800 Lakeside Ave., Richmond, VA 23228
Any green space is sure to spruce up your photo, but the Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden offers perhaps one of the most diverse natural backdrops in the RVA. Over 50 acres of gardens transform into your own runway as you fill up your camera roll with gorgeous pics. There are plenty of places for you to find the perfect light, but we suggest visiting either the Central Garden or Asian Valley first. The Central Garden features a terrace with a fountain that creates nice depth while Asian Valley offers the opportunity to get a snapshot that whispers sweet serenity.
- Monument Avenue – 2501 Monument Ave., Richmond, VA 23220
Monument Avenue is full of photo-worthy spots, and with proximity to Richmond homes for sale, it's an easily walkable route that will take you by some iconic city sites. We suggest starting at The Branch Museum of Architecture and Design. This fantastic façade is a great backdrop for your selfie and is within a few blocks from our city's historical monuments. Walk the Avenue and take selfies with historical figures like Stonewall Jackson or Arthur Ashe.
- Powhatan State Park – 4616 Powhatan State Park Rd., Powhatan, VA 23139
Over 1500-acres are ready for your lens. Powhatan State Park has too many photo-ops to count. From the multi-use trails through the hardwood forest and wildlife observation area to the unspoiled views of the James River, you're going to have a tough time picking your favorite selfie. Looking for an awesome photo? Instead of letting the James fade into the background, snap a picture of its good side by rowing out into the water on a canoe. Riverside pics are great, but nothing beats a selfie on the water. Access this park at the entrance just across the street from Powhatan homes for sale.
- Petersburg National Battlefield – City Point Unit – Cedar Lane, Hopewell, VA 23860
If you want a unique riverfront photo, head to where the James and Appomattox meet at Petersburg National Battlefield. Around the corner from Hopewell homes for sale, this historic area offers superb views of the water, big blue skies, and vast green fields. Snap a photo in front of the cabin where Ulysses Grant lived or let a flock of geese photo-bomb your selfie as you snap a few pics of the grounds.
- Great Shiplock Park – 2803 Dock St., Richmond, VA 23223
Looking for a mix of city and nature for your selfie? Head down to Great Shiplock Park. It's along the James River and at the head of the Virginia Capital Trail so you'll be able to snap a few industrial and nature pics as you meander around this small park. It's also a great spot for fishing — a smiling selfie with your fresh catch is sure to get a lot of likes!
- Triple Crossing – East Byrd St., Richmond, VA 23219
You'll probably want to hit up Canal Walk for National Selfie Day — we can't resist the street art either — but we encourage you to also make your way to the opposite side of the canal and snap some photos at Triple Crossing. You'll get great views of the city and cool shots as the trains pass you by. Best of all, the brewery is right beside the canal so you can take one final selfie with a delicious brew in hand.
