Every house is unique, and depending on your location and climate, your home maintenance checklist for spring may look a little different from this one. Still, for most areas across the U.S., the arrival of spring brings a similar set of challenges for your home. Here's how to get your house ready when spring arrives:

  • Roof: Shingles often wear out, detach or become damaged during winter. If you feel comfortable doing so, climb up on a ladder for a closer look. If not, do a visual inspection from ground level and contact a roofing professional for a more detailed inspection.

Best Richmond Restaurants

At Joyner Fine Properties, our REALTORS® won't rest until you have the chance to move into one of the most appealing Richmond homes for sale. We'll help you find your Richmond dream home so you can enjoy all that this amazing, historic city has to offer.

And one of the main attractions: Delectable gourmet food.

If you're in town to look at homes, you should make time to try out some of the best local specialties. Chesapeake Bay blue crab is the headliner when it comes to Virginia's seafood, but you won't want to miss out on our oysters – or the snacks of freshly roasted peanuts.

But the menu doesn't start and end with seafood. Not by a long shot!

You'll find many different cuisines ready to enjoy when you take a closer look at the dining scene in Richmond. Our team has picked out five of our favorite places for dinner, lunch, or just about any time.

  1. Sub Rosa Bakery - 620 North 25th Street, Richmond
Sub Rosa Bakery is a wood-fired bakery that provides delicious pastries in the midst of historic Church Hill. Organic, regional, and heirloom grains are the secrets to bread with remarkably rich, complex flavors. No matter if you're looking for something delicate like the croissant or seasonal fruit tart or a delicious indulgence like the lamb borek, everything comes from the masonry oven.

Before you head out, read on to learn more about the history and features of this quaint Richmond neighborhood.

The Fan District: Homes Enriched in History

The 85-block historic Fan District is called such because of its unique roadway design. West of the downtown Richmond area, the Fan District is lined with streets that spread out towards the city in the shape of a fan. This area, once farmland, gradually started developing through the 1800s. By 1920, the district was complete and featured homes of varying architectural styles including Queen Anne, Colonial Revival, Gothic, Tudor and even the Art Deco and American Arts and Crafts Movement styles.
