Celebrate National Anti-Boredom Month

Now that summer is here, are you dreading the first time you hear those inevitable words, "I'm bored?" In honor of National Anti-Boredom Month in July, our REALTORS® share this list of fun kids' activities in the Richmond area.

  1. Three Lakes Park & Nature Center - 400 Sausiluta Dr., Henrico 23227
    With a wide variety of interactive exhibits featuring air, land, and water, Three Lakes Park & Nature Center is an ideal place for outdoor summer fun near Henrico homes for sale. The impressive 6,500-square-foot Nature Center has displays of plant and animal life native to the area along with a 50,000-gallon aquarium that lets you get an up-close look at the marine world. Pack a picnic lunch and fishing poles and make a day of it. Hours through August are 10 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. weekdays except Monday and noon - 4:30 p.m. weekends. General admission is free for all visitors.

Richmond Sites for a Photo

Get your favorite filter ready — National Selfie Day is June 21st! Stroll nearly anywhere around Richmond, and you won't be able to resist snapping a photo of the diverse beauty found within our city. Our REALTORS® take a look at some of Richmond's favorite backdrops perfect spots for your next selfie session!

  1. Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden – 1800 Lakeside Ave., Richmond, VA 23228
    Any green space is sure to spruce up your photo, but the Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden offers perhaps one of the most diverse natural backdrops in the RVA. Over 50 acres of gardens transform into your own runway as you fill up your camera roll with gorgeous pics. There are plenty of places for you to find the perfect light, but we suggest visiting either the Central Garden or Asian Valley first. The Central Garden features a terrace with a fountain that creates nice depth while Asian Valley offers the opportunity to get a snapshot that whispers sweet serenity.

Richmond Memorial Day
Memorial Day is May 27.  Our REALTORS® know that Memorial Day Weekend is a busy time for our residents. With parades, festivals, ceremonies and other events happening around town, you've got quite the options to fill your weekend with fun. Here is our pick of five great activities you and your family can attend this Memorial Day weekend.

  1. America's First College & Memorial Day Celebration – 251 Henricus Park Rd., Chester, VA 23836
    Henricus Historical Park is celebrating Memorial Day in a very cool way on May 25th. Just around the corner from Chesterfield homes for sale, come out for a celebration where the first American formal school was formed. Interpreters will host lectures and living history presentations for visitors. They'll even fire muskets and cannons to salute the men and women of the armed forces that have sacrificed their lives throughout American history.

EXPLORE RICHMOND BY BIKE

May is the perfect time to be a bicyclist and Richmond is the ideal place to ride! The League of American Bicyclists sponsors National Bike Month each year during May. The month also features National Bike to Work Week (and National Bike to Work Day for those who don't want to risk getting caught in a spring shower). Our REALTORS® love telling clients about all of the wonderful things to do and see in our community.  Why not start by exploring Richmond on two wheels with this list of six top bike trails.

  1. Virginia Capital Trail
    Route: From the Corner of E Cary St./Dock St. in downtown Richmond to Jamestown Beach Events Park in Williamsburg
    Distance: 52 Miles

    We're kicking off this list with the ultimate Richmond ride! The Virginia Capital Trail takes you through some of the most beautiful places along the river while weaving you in and out of towns with plenty of food and attractions. The entire trail is paved and features restrooms, shuttle stops, picnic areas and repair stations. It even takes you through campground areas and near hotels if you want to take a full weekend to enjoy the ride! You could also pick out one of the great Richmond homes for sale on the way and travel this trail any time you wish.
