EXPLORE RICHMOND BY BIKE

May is the perfect time to be a bicyclist and Richmond is the ideal place to ride! The League of American Bicyclists sponsors National Bike Month each year during May. The month also features National Bike to Work Week (and National Bike to Work Day for those who don't want to risk getting caught in a spring shower). Our REALTORS® love telling clients about all of the wonderful things to do and see in our community.  Why not start by exploring Richmond on two wheels with this list of six top bike trails.

  1. Virginia Capital Trail
Route: From the Corner of E Cary St./Dock St. in downtown Richmond to Jamestown Beach Events Park in Williamsburg
    Distance: 52 Miles

We're kicking off this list with the ultimate Richmond ride! The Virginia Capital Trail takes you through some of the most beautiful places along the river while weaving you in and out of towns with plenty of food and attractions. The entire trail is paved and features restrooms, shuttle stops, picnic areas and repair stations. It even takes you through campground areas and near hotels if you want to take a full weekend to enjoy the ride! You could also pick out one of the great Richmond homes for sale on the way and travel this trail any time you wish.

Kings Dominion Virginia
Spring is back in Virginia, and that means one thing for thrill-seeking families: Kings Dominion is back too. Our state's biggest amusement park opened for the season on March 30, and its rides and interactive attractions just might be the most exciting things between Richmond and Washington, D.C. If your family is looking at Richmond homes for sale, head north to Doswell for a preview of the adventures you could have all summer long.

What makes Kings Dominion Amusement Park so much fun for Virginia families? Here are some of our favorite things to do while visiting this 400-acre playground:

  • Ride a World-Class Roller Coaster
Ready to get your blood pumping? More than 60 rides are spread out across the park, but the main attraction is a collection of awe-inspiring roller coasters. Try all 12 coasters while you're there, including the aptly named Intimidator 305 (which takes you 305 feet into the air) and the Coney Island-inspired wooden beast The Grizzly. And don't miss the latest addition, Twisted Timbers! This mid-Atlantic first puts a steel track on traditional wooden supports, and it simulates the path of a mysterious 1950 disaster in Hanover Hill Orchard.
